Last month I had the privilege of interviewing Derek Mueller on my BlogTalkRadio show, Business Off The Beaten Path. To listen to the full interview, click here.
Derek is perhaps best known as the original artist and illustrator of the award winning California Raisin commercials. He has also worked among other places at George Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic Studio. Derek has illustrated so many advertising campaigns over the years, but some that you might recognize are ones he did for Sprint, Radio Shack, Clorox, Boeing, Chevron and Readers Digest and many many more. You can view these and other wonderful paintings by Derek Mueller at www.derekmueller.com. I am excited for all of you to have an opportunity to meet Derek and get to know more about this wonderful talent and person.
Here are some of the topics we covered in our two shows:
- The Experience of being the Original Artist for the California Raisin Commercials
- Derek’s recently published front cover of The American Legion Magazine.
- How Derek came to be known as The Norman Rockwell For A New Generation
- What experience in life has most influenced who Derek is today.
- What is the most important lesson Derek has learned in his life and how that lesson has influenced his work.
- How the digintal age has impacted artists and especially illustrators.
- How a new patriotism and that spirit is influencing Derek’s work today.
